Jerry Smith serves as Counsel at Broadfield and as a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Tax in Atlanta. Jerry brings more than 30 years of experience advising public and private companies and partnerships on the federal and international tax aspects of complex transactions.

Jerry advises clients on acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, financings, internal restructurings, and cross-border planning. His experience spans tax-free and taxable acquisitions and divestitures, international joint ventures, tax-free spin-offs, public debt offerings, syndicated private debt placements, and domestic and international corporate restructurings.

He also represents companies in IRS controversies, including matters at the audit level and before IRS Appeals. His experience includes Early Referral and Fast Track Settlement procedures, as well as matters involving Fortune 500 companies.

Before joining A&M, Jerry was a Tax Partner at Jones Day for more than a decade, advising clients on public and private transactions, domestic and cross-border acquisitions and divestitures, spin-offs, joint ventures, capital markets transactions, and tax planning projects. Earlier in his career, he was a Tax Partner at KPMG, where he held several leadership roles.
